Community Service Award – Amber Tabares, NMD, MBA-HCM

Congratulations to Dr. Amber Tabares on winning SCNM’s Alumni Award for Community Service!

Dr. Tabares received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine in 2012 from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. She maintains a medical license as a Naturopathic Physician in the State of Arizona.

Post-graduation, Dr. Tabares has served as an Adjunct Instructor of Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology, and has practiced clinically in the fields of addiction medicine, pediatrics, endocrinology, primary care, family medicine, and global medicine. She currently practices privately at Better World Medicine as well as at our community clinics, Roosevelt Health Center and Sojourner Center. These clinics provide free healthcare to families in our community who need it most.

Inspired and motivated by the principal Physician as Teacher, she strives to empower others by teaching the importance of healthy living and preventative medicine one on one in her office, as well as to wider audiences. Dr. Tabares has served as a health educator to various inner-city youth programs and currently serves as clinical adjunct faculty in community medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.

She has strong interests in global and community medicine and has served in Haiti, Thailand, and Mexico with Naturopathic Doctors Without Borders and is currently working on her certification in Global Health Practice. Dr. Tabares also received her MBA in Healthcare Management from American Intercontinental University and her B.A. in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. Committed to the principles of naturopathic medicine, Dr. Tabares has a passion for assisting broader communities in obtaining optimal health and improving their quality of life through the empowerment of education and naturopathic healthcare.
